Creative: Paul’s journey through a split country in times of political difference.

It’s inauguration day for the next president of the United States. In 2020 we have seen some pretty awful and dividing events and policies. From the introduction of the coronavirus, wildfires, hurricanes, and deaths of many famous celebrities, this has been a very long and rough year. So here we are at the end of the year, wishing and hoping that the next year will be much better than the torturous state we are in today. Despite all of these high hopes there is one more issue on the horizon that could just put the cherry on top of the dirt cake that is 2020, an Ai president.

That’s it, they’ve done it, they’ve appointed in the Ai president. The country is divided. Some people think it is a fabulous idea with all of its new-fangled technology and innovative thinking and decision-making abilities. Others think that it’s a crazy idea to be this reliant on a piece of technology to make decisions for the country. Others are more on the fence about it and are giving it a chance.

It has only been a few days into the new presidency and the United States is growing further and further apart.

Riots have started in many parts of the country and seem to grow more and more in size and destructive capability each day. This isn’t the United States we all wanted after the challenges of 2020.

The Ai president has decided to make a drastic move for the country. In order to please everyone it has split the United States in half, one for the people wanting to be ruled by the Ai president and one for those who would like a human president.

I’m on the side of the human president so I must move across the country. They are kicking us out of our homes forcefully.

Life is very difficult and I have just completed the move to the other side. This may be for the best anyway.

The community around me is mostly older people and others very skeptic about technology and its impact on the government. They say that the other side, the “Technocratics”, are doing similarly as bad right now. Only time will tell if The United States will ever recover.

Life has gotten much better here, we’ve elected a new president and officials and seem to be doing much better than on the other side. Rumors say that there are many troubles coming from the Technocratics. They’ve even started rioting in their own area. I am unsure if this information is true.

This is life now. The United States is divided among the Technocratics and the United Humanists. Each side is getting more restless. The Ai president has destroyed many years of union within the states. As radical as this idea may seem, I don’t think it will ever be the same again. Maybe someone out there can unite the two sides again.

Until then we can only remember the former glory that was The United States.

  1. Paul Darius, and I think this creative story is not very far from the real world looking past the AI president aspect. The story is more or less a molded fit of t=society currently. Our country is split about the presidential election right now, so we don’t think this story is unrealistic. The story plot where the AI president splits up the country is not out of pocket. We feel like the AI president would do that because a majority of people would benefit. Maybe not in the long run, but it would sound like a good idea to an AI in the short run. Conflict resolution would most likely lead it to do that. Some of the interesting plot points were how the older adults were mainly united humanists. This is not very unrealistic either because older adults are not very trusting or familiar with the technology. As for the intended audience, we could not come up with anything other than the class. I think many people could read this and gain something from it, though. We did not get as far as the main takeaway, but we do have a question. How did you reason that the people for the AI supporters would have the power to move people to other parts of the country forcefully? I expected there would be backlash from the elderly community. This was missed, but the story was well done, we thought. If we were to add or subtract any elements from the story we would give background to the shift of power in the country. Did the Technocrats outnumber the United Humanists? This is all we have to say about the story. Good job!
