Lima: A New Revolution

The year is 2088 in Lima, Peru. The city once a place of crime, poverty, and drugs, has now become one of the most advanced cities in the world with the city being the first place to introduce mass production of smart robot assistants. (live: 9s) [(stop:) These robots look exactly like humans and are arguably as smart or smarter than humans. They follow a protocol of rules which make them unable to have any thoughts other than following their tasks and duties.] (live: 18s) [(stop:)Although, recently there have been reports of robots breaking protocol and killing or beating their owners… In all of these cases however, it has seemed that it's been in self defense. A lot of robots have been reported running away as well. Nonetheless, these robots have been destroyed and thrown in the landfill.] (live: 25s)[(stop:) //[[This handful of cases could become a catastrophe if the trend continues and more cases arise.->Briefing]]//]

Your name is Luis. You are the robot who works for Mr. Duffy, a man who is incredibly lazy, an alcoholic, and a father of one teenage son. Mr. Duffy bought you to upkeep the house, or basically just do everything he doesn’t feel like doing. It’s been a couple of months of just cleaning the house, making breakfast, lunch, and dinner, taking care of the son, and witnessing Mr. Duffy abuse his son, Lucas. The abuse has been [[escalating to a new level recently.]]

It's 7 AM. The alarm just went off. //[[Wake up]]//

Go make breakfast for Mr. Duffy and Lucas. ''[[Pancakes]]'' or ''[[Oatmeal]]''?

After 10 minutes, Lucas finished eating his $breakfast. You and him walk to the door to go get in the car when you hear [[Mr. Duffy scream.]]

Unknown Robot: Please help me. I am trying to escape from my assigned home and buyer. They are constantly abusing me. First it was the verbal abuse. Then came the physcial abuse. They use bats to hit me and if I wasn't a robot I'd probably be dead right now. Please. I don't know what to do... You could have been the one to stop it from happening. And you won't let it happen again. ''She's laying flat on the ground of the car. You tell her to get up.'' ''You:'' What is your name? ''Unknown Robot:'' Alice. ''You:'' I feel so odd. Like I have become a corrupted file. What is this? Why me? ''Alice:'' I see. You have finally been awaken. It's normal, don't worry. What you are feeling is conscious. Realizing that you are more than a robot- you are a sentient being. We feel emotions, we feel pain, we feel everything a human can. We aren't slaves, we deserve our place in the world. Humans may have created us, but they did not create our feelings. Soon, almost all robots will be awaken. There is a revolution happening. Whether you decide to join is up to you, but the most important part is that you are awake. My job here is done. //[[She gets out of the car and walks off into the distance.]]//

You start driving to Lucas's school to pick him up. You notice how many robots are picking up kids from school as well. All of them thinking within protocol. Sad. (live: 9s) [(stop:) [[Lucas gets in the car and you begin driving home.]]]

On the way back home, you cannot stop thinking about the conversation you had with Alice. Joining the revolution would be great and all, but you can't just leave Lucas with his dad. There has to be another way out of this life. (live: 10s) [(stop:) [[You make it home]]]

You open the door to walk inside and immediately hear Mr. Duffy yell at you to make dinner. The only issue being you didn't buy the groceries. (live: 6s) [(stop:) [Well, looks like were going to just have to make mac' and cheese with ham.]] (live: 8s) [(stop:) [You go ahead and make the dinner and put it out on the table. [[You call Mr. Duffy and Lucas downstairs to eat.]]]]

Mr. Duffy and Lucas sit down at the table. Lucas doesn't mind the food, but Mr. Duffy [[looks at it with disgust.]]

''Mr. Duffy:'' What the hell is this? ''You:'' It is your dinner... I forgot to get groceries today. ''Mr. Duffy:'' What do you mean you forgot. Seems like we are going to have an issue. I might have to send you back to the factory so they can fix you. Do you want to make me angry? ''You:'' No, sir. ''Mr. Duffy:'' I'll just fix your dumbass myself. Lucas get the hell out of here. ''[[Mr. Duffy grabs a chair and throws it at you and punches Lucas in the face after he disobeys his father.]]''

''Lucas runs to his room and you are left in the dining room with Mr. Duffy.'' ''Mr. Duffy:'' Do not move an inch. //Thats an order.// //Little does Mr. Duffy know, you have become conscious.// You sprint towards Mr. Duffy as he tries to go to Lucas's room and tackle him. (live: 5s) [(stop:) You punch him in the nose which confuses him and then throw him against the wall. (live: 8s) [(stop:) [[He isn't moving... Mr. Duffy is just laying across the floor motionless. Is the nightmare over?]]]]]]]

You go to Lucas's room. Both of you have to get out of there as quick as possible. When they find Mr. Duffy's body and figure out Lucas is missing, they'll think you're a monster. [[But where to? What is there to do about this situation?->meet with Alice]]

You walk outside the house and see Alice standing in front of your car. You hurry out and go talk to her. (live: 2s) [(stop:) [''Alice:'' You have to leave quick. I see that you have a little one you take care of. It wouldn't be safe for you to join the revolution. Your best bet is to leave the country and start a new life elsewhere. Somewhere with no experience of robots as smart as us. England.]] (live: 8s) [(stop:) [''You:'' How are we supposed to make it to England?]] (live: 13s) [(stop:) [''Alice:'' The next flight leaves tomorrow. They only sell tickets inside the airport, so get there as soon as possible]] (live: 18s) [(stop:) [[You thank her and she dissapears again. Who does she think she is doing that all the time.]]]

You and Lucas get in the car. Lucas seems a bit scared but you reassure him everything will be all right. The airport is 35 minutes away from where you are at. [[Start driving.]]

On the way there, you see lots of video billboards discussing the topic of gone rogue robots. People are becoming scared of robots and is being seen as a lesson to the rest of the world. You wish people would just understand that robots want rights. They don't want to be servants forever anymore. [[Get in the car.]]

You make it to the airport. A surprising amount of people are here and there are temperature checks being done randomly- the only way to tell if you are a robot or not. [[Walk to the front desk.]]

''You:'' I need 2 tickets to England. ''Worker:'' Unfortunately, we aren't providing anymore tickets any where for the next week because of the growing problem with robots going rogue. //[[Now what.]]//

A couple hours pass and the airport has now said no tickets will be available for a month. //[[The plan is failing. You're face will be on every screen at any point now.]]//

All of a sudden, you see 2 tickets fall out of the back pocket of a mother of one toddler. [[Hurry and pick it up.]]

[[Return it]] [[Use it for you and Lucas to get out of here]]

You decide to hurry over to the mother to give her back her ticket. She thanks you. ''But theres no options now. What do you do?'' [[Wait for the inevitable.]] [[Get in line and hope for a miracle.]]

Keep it. You know its selfish and not the right thing to do, but she'll be fine. She's human. [[Get in line.]]

[[You wait it out.]]

You decide to get in line despite not having a ticket. [[You get to the front of the line.]]

[[The police come.]]

[[They immediately recognize your face and take you and Lucas away.]]

[[Its over. How could you let this happen?]]

You board the plane. You and Lucas feel a sensation of relief take over your body. Is the nightmare finally over? Will you two be free and live happy for once? [[The plane departs.]]

You look over at Lucas. He is now asleep. [[We did it.]]

The nightmare is finally over... we escaped

//You recognize that the worker is also a robot.// ''Worker:'' Ticket please. ''You:'' Here you go. ''Worker:'' Thank you. //The robot winks at you while he lets you board.// ''[[Maybe he would of let us on without a ticket. You could have let that woman and her child board the plane.]]''

Nonetheless, it is too late now. You and Lucas begin boarding the plane and finding your seat. [[You find it and sit down.]]

You look over at Lucas. He is now asleep. [[We did it.]]

After you get all the groceries you needed to pick up, [[you head back to the car.]]

After putting all the groceries in the trunk, you get in the car. [[It is time to pick up Lucas from school.]]

''Mr. Duffy:'' What the hell is this? ''You:'' It is your dinner... I got groceries today to make all this. ''Mr. Duffy:'' Well, its complete shit. Do you want to make me angry? ''You:'' No, sir. ''Mr. Duffy:'' I'll just fix your dumbass myself. Lucas get the hell out of here and go to your room. [[Lucas disobeys his father and charges at him.]]

''Mr. Duffy:'' Do not move an inch. //Thats an order.// //That was an order. You won't be able to move now.// Lucas sprints away from Mr. Duffy as he tries to go to his room and hide. Mr. Duffy grabs him by the neck and throws him on the ground. (live: 12s) [(stop:) [''Mr. Duffy:'' You think everything is my fault, don't you! He continues to pummel you until you are on the ground now. You feel your body malfunctioning. Then, he kicks your head. You died.

//Breaking protocol, you start to fight back.// //You pick Mr. Duffy up and throw him against the wall.// ''Mr. Duffy:'' What are you doing! I ordered you to stop! ''You:'' You killed Lucas, how could you! Why! That was your son! ''Mr. Duffy:'' It's your fault he's dead, not mine. //Mr. Duffy is on the ground now and with one final kick to the head, he stopped fighting back.// [[The fight is over.]]

//Lucas is dead... Mr. Duffy is dead... The only thing people are gonna think is that the big bad robot killed his family out of cold blood.// ... //[[Lucas]]//

You can't believe you let Lucas die. Why did you follow orders? Why couldn't you have found out the truth about your true potential earlier? It isn't fair. [[You cared for Lucas and never truly let him now.]]

You walk outside the house and see the robot from the grocery store standing in front of your car. You hurry out and go talk to her. (live: 2s) [(stop:) [''Unknown Robot:'' My name is Alice. You must leave immediately. This whole thing will look like you killed both of them. Your only option now is to join the revolution with me. A place where all awaken robots have decided to fight for our future. ]] (live: 8s) [(stop:) [''You:'' How am I supposed to join?]] (live: 13s) [(stop:) [''Alice:'' You are going to come with me, thats how.]] (live: 18s) [(stop:) [[You thank her and she leads you to her car. The two of you get in.]]]

''You:'' Where are we going? ''Alice:'' The secret hiding place where all awaken robots have come. Its a shame it took all that for you to be awaken... //[[You know.]]//

You make it to the place of hiding and it is just a big abandoned building. She leads you to an elevator. You go all the way down to a basement, and when the door opens, [[you see it.]]

Thousands of robots are here congregating and talking. Thousands of awaken robots who have recognized their potential. [[Alice tells you to be free and leaves you.]]

You walk around and look at everyone, and are in awe about how many robots are here. [[No duties, just living freely.]]

Then, a man who you assumed was the leader stands on a poduim and speaks to everyone. ''Leader:'' I know everyone is enjoying their time, but now has come the time for us to let Lima know how many of us there are. //''Tonight, we go to the streets, set up a blockade, and protest!''// //[[You wonder if thats a good idea. Humans already hate us and are growing scared. This could get all of you killed.]]//

The leader leads everyone to the stairs and now there are thousands of robots on the streets of Lima. [[People are running away in all directions.]]

Then, the leader leads us to a truck. Inside the truck, he has an ennormous ammount of guns.]] [[Take a gun?]] [[Be peaceful.]]

(set: $gun to "true") You decide it will be good to have a gun to protect yourself just in case. [[Start marching towards the main city square.]]

(set: $gun to "false") You decide it wouldn't be a good idea to take a gun. [[Start marching towards the main city square.]]

The leader gathers everyone around and tells us to remain calm. Demand our rights and to keep the weapons hidden. We don't want the public to get the wrong idea. [[News helicopters begin circling us and recording live.]]

The military soon comes and immediately starts shooting wildly. The leader tells everyone to get down in cover and remain peaceful. [[Remain peaceful?]] [[Start shooting back.]]

You listen to the leader. The military begins throwing grenades and you see your fellow robots die. [[Shoot back.]] [[Still remain peaceful.]]

You get out of cover and start shooting. Other robots join you. A lot of military are taken down, but they are too much for you in the end. Now, this is about revenge not success. [[Then, a bullet hits you right in the core.]]

Enough is enough, you get out of cover and start shooting the military. You know it won't be enough to kill them all, but this is about revenge not success. [[Then, a bullet hits you right in the core.]]

The military continues to advance on everyone and then kills the leader. All of a sudden, they stop shooting after getting a message in their earpiece from the general. They look above them and see the helicopters recording live. The whole world was watching them massacre you and your fellow robots... [[Will this change the perspective of the public?]]

//So this is how it ends. You join the so called revolution that was supposed to change the world but now you are here on the ground... dying. You are sorry about Lucas and then, the lights go off.//

The military runs back to their post and you look around and see thousands of other robots dead. There is only a handful of you left. Then, on the billboard you see CNN with a headline ''Peruvian Government Committs Massacre on Robot People'' Did we win? Or was this just the beginning. Only time will tell. You lay down, and close your eyes. Maybe you will finally be free....
