You wake up and take a look outside. Twosun is high in the air, meaning it's about 12:30. Give or take a couple of minutes. Sky interpreting was never your strong suit.
[[Check Calendar]]
[[Get Ready]]You check your calendar. It says it's the 2nd quarter of the year, which is why Twosun is visible. In a few weeks time Threesun should be visible on the Horizon. While you're here, you also check some other things around your room. You have plenty of clothes. The sunlight shines in through a window on your left side.
[[Get Ready]] You get ready for the day. You brush your teeth, fix your hair, and put on your work clothes. That being said, you hope you can actually get a job today. You've had bad luck at the job auction for for the past few days, and money's getting a bit too thin for your liking.
[[Go to the Job Auction]]
[[Go Do Something, Anything Else]]Luckily, you manage to get to the auction decently early, so you get a good spot. There's only about 100 or so people ahead of you. You wait for hours, and you eventually reach the top of the line.
[[Wait for the Job Auction]]The Job auction goes by fairly quickly, all things considered. You stand on the block waiting for someone to offer to hire you. The job auction always struck you as a rather strange artefact of an age where employers originally had too few workers for their businesses. As such, the fast-paced, competitive auctions were extremely useful for the companies. However, now, even with the many new companies and businesses that grew up during the years since, there are far too many workers for the jobs available to them, and there is no way to get qualifications for non physically intensive jobs. So, now people line up to be chosen for work, with the companies take their time to do so. You think they're about to reach a decision for you.
[[Get a Job]]You manage to hear what job you got chosen for.
[[Go to Work - Retail]]
[[Go to Work - Farming]]
[[Go to Work - Factory]]Retail, specifically, you are going to be a cashier at Wally Wally Mart, one of the biggest grocery stores around. Hopefully your shift isn't too terrible. You walk in, grab your uniform, and get to work. You've worked here before, and worked at many similar establishments, so it shouldn't be too hard. The tricky part is remembering the store layout and dealing with customers. Well, it's better than the farms. Or the factories. And the sewers. Especially the sewers.
[[Continue Working]]Eventually, you get done working. You get your pay, adequate for the amount of work you did. Since you're already here, you might as well get started on the groceries and things you have to buy.
[[Buy Groceries]]You buy the things you need fairly quickly. However, you had to dip into some savings that your parents left you in order to get it all. That worries you, you know you have bills coming up soon, and with how much food and basic essentials having been going up, you honestly have no clue how you're going to pay it now.
At this point, you just want to go home.
[[Go Home]]You arrive home and make yourself something to eat. While you're eating, a realization hits you. You're going to be doing this for the rest of your life until you break. Day in, day out, working until you can't anymore. You've seen people like that. Broken physically, put in Hospitals until the state decides they're not worth keeping alive. broken mentally, raving mad and being taken to the asylum, assuming they were lucky. Broken spiritually, eyes dead and gone, coming into work one day and being in the morning paper the next, hanging from the rafters, or whatever other place they could get a rope around. Maybe you're already that way. Maybe you have been for a while. You certainly can't recall anymore.
[[Listen to some Music]]
[[End It]]
[[Go to Bed]]You put on some music. Some nights that helps you feel a little bit better. Tonight is not one of those nights.
[[End It]]
[[Go to Bed]] The only way out of a rigged game is to stop playing. You wonder what that article in the morning paper will say about you.Meh. You have work tomorrow, you don't have the luxury to die. You go to bed and prepare yourself for the same thing tomorrow. Worst comes to worst, there's always tomorrow night if you still feel like this.
[[Wake Up]] A farm a small ways outside the city needs help with maintaining its animals and equipment, as well as baling hay. You're getting tired just thinking about it.
[[Get to Farming]]You spend the day farming. It's grueling work, and you're tired and sweaty by the end of it. You go take a shower, the long walk back home leaving you alone with your thoughts, and then you get your groceries.
[[Buy Groceries]] No-one likes the Job auction. It's a tiring waste of time based on an antiquated system. However, participation is mandatory by anyone over the age of 18. You get some bad luck soon after you leave, and you run into some enforcers. You decide that working's better than jail or a beating.
[[Go to the Job Auction]] One of the factories in the city decides you're a good fit. Great, staring at a moving line of parts putting who-knows-what together for somebody else to buy.
[[Shift at the Assembly Line]]At least the work on the assembly line doesn't take much brainpower. You manage to mentally check out until you hear the whistle for the end of your shift. You should go get groceries.
